Differences in features between on-premise version and cloud version

MotionBoard Cloud and MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce (hereafter referred to as MotionBoard Cloud) have "on-premise version of MotionBoard" that is provided in a different form.

Some of the provided manuals are for the on-premise version of MotionBoard, however, some features are different depending on the provision form.

This page shows the differences in features between the on-premise version and the cloud version. Please refer to this page when reading documents in this manual.

General

  1. The login screens differ by product as follows:

    • For MotionBoard Cloud, one with a different design from the on-premise version is displayed.

    • For MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce, the login screen of MotionBoard is not displayed.

  2. The product logo is different. Icon of board tree is one of examples.

  3. Only HTTPS connections are allowed to access MotionBoard Cloud (HTTP connections are not allowed).

Data Source and Authentication

  1. Available data sources (databases) depend on the edition.

  2. Up to "10" of external connection settings can be created.

  3. The only authentication method that can be used to connect with Google services such as Google Analytics is using a Google service account.

  4. The following data sources cannot be used (not shown) in system datasources on the Select Data Source screen.

    • Server - CPU

    • Server - GC

    • Server - Memory

  5. The available authentication settings differ by product as follows:

    • For MotionBoard Cloud, the available authentication settings depend on the edition.

    • For MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce, the available authentication settings are Salesforce authentication (SFDC authentication) and local authentication.

  6. Scoring is not available.

  7. You do not need to create a driver for connection. (An available driver is already registered.)

  8. You cannot configure the external connections to the following data sources.

    • Dr.Sum Datalizer

    • Oracle RAC

    • Plugin (extension program)

    • Red Hat JBoss

    • Rserve

Analysis

  1. Realtime Analysis is available on some editions.

  2. For MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce, RFM analysis using objects whose data sources are Salesforce cannot be performed.

Data Storage

  1. Data storage is called "snapshot save destination" in on-premises version. The name is different, but the function is the same.

  2. You do not need to provide a database to use data storage.

  3. The maximum number of data storage registrations is 30.

  4. In the task schedule for exporting data, the time interval at the time of export cannot be set.

System Settings

  1. The following system settings screens are not available (not displayed).

    • Program screen

    • Plug-in screen

    • Tenant Management screen

    • Snapshot Save Destination screen

    • Login Prohibited Time Period screen

    • Mail Server screen

    • Server Information screen

    • Single Sign-on screen (for MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce)

    • Account Lockout screen (for MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce)

    • Usage Data screen

  2. For MotionBoard Cloud, connection methods other than SAML Integration of External Single Sign-on cannot be used (not displayed) on the Single Sign-on screen.

  3. The following system settings screens are not available depending editions and/or options (not displayed):

    • Bridge Service screen

    • File Connector screen

    • SVF Server screen

    • In-Memory OLAP screen

    • Realtime Data Connection screen

    • Chat screen

  4. The following items on the General screen are not be available (not displayed).

    • Use Password as a System Parameter

    • Use Triggered Program on Data Retrieval/Update

    • Proxy Server

    • Window Title

    • Download format of installer

    • Snapshot Processing Timeout (sec)

    • Report Distribution Task Timeout (min)

    • Check permissions strictly

    • Priority order of folder permissions

    • Priority order of database browse permissions

    • Priority order of database update permissions

    • Items belonging to the Spreadsheet group

    • Items belonging to the GEO Item group

    • Items belonging to the SVF Report group

    • Items belonging to the Excel Report group

    • Items belonging to the Account Lockout group (for MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce)

    • Items belonging to the Link With Datalizer group

  5. The following items on the Task screen are not be available (not displayed).

    • In-memory OLAP (depending on edition and option)

    • Server Program

    • Report delivery (depending on option)

  6. The following items on the Select Import Target screen and Select Export Target screen are not exported (not displayed).

    • General

    • Program

    • User

    • Connection/Authentication

    • Login Prohibited Time Period

    • Mail Server

  7. Output Exception Information to Standard Log on the Log screen is not available (not displayed).

  8. The following items on the External Connection screen are not be available (not displayed):

    • MotionBoard Query Engine ALL on Memory (Driver Type of the connection type MotionBoard QueryEngine)

  9. The following items on the SVF server screen are not be available (not displayed):

    • Use Proxy Server

    • Proxy Server

    • Proxy Port

Item

  1. The following button items of the action type Server Program Start-up cannot be created or used.

  2. Non-aggregate chart item is not available.

  3. The Huff model feature for GEO items cannot be used.

  4. The feature of GEO item reachable area has the following restrictions:

    • The maximum traveling time you can specify is 180 minutes (Traveling Time From Start Pointon the Specify Conditions for Reachable Area Considering Roads screen).

    • The maximum reachable distance to be calculated is 100 km (calculated from Movement Speed km/h and Traveling Time From Start Point on the Specify Conditions for Reachable Area Considering Roads screen).

  5. For MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce, the login ID and tenant ID are not added to URLs for publishing of the imaged item (such as image chart).

  6. Plugin Items cannot use js files created by users.

  7. The Datalizer tab in the Add Link screen is not available (not displayed) for link items.

Realtime Data Connection

  1. The following features related to realtime data connection are available depending on edition:

    • Realtime Data Connection screen in System Settings

    • Realtime Data Connection tab in the GEO item properties

    • Realtime analysis (Realtime Analysis screen displayed when Analysis is selected on the Data Source Editor screen)

    • Select Data Source screen - system datasources - Realtime

    • Realtime Data Connection Web API

    • MB IoT Agent

Realtime Alert

  1. The minimum execution interval of alert monitoring of the realtime alert features varies depending on the edition (Execution Cycle on the Realtime Alert tab of the Board Management screen).

  2. Of the Realtime Alert functions, the following alert actions are not available (not displayed).

    • Execute Extension Program

    • Execute Server Program

Model

  1. The maximum number of records that can be handled in the dimension table created by selecting JOIN as the data joining method is 100,000 per table.

  2. In the task of the model, the following specification will apply.

    • The maximum waiting time (timeout) before the task is executed is 60 minutes.

    • The maximum waiting time before time out during execution is 10 minutes.

    • The maximum number of planned execution time is 48.

  3. Only "DataStorage" can be selected as the data storage location of the model. (Neither File connector nor Dr.Sum are displayed as options.) However, if you have an in-memory OLAP option, you can also select the in-memory table as the storage location.

Writing Back Data

  1. For MotionBoard Cloud for Salesforce, there are following restrictions when writing data back to Salesforce objects:

    • Multiple items can be specified in Update Key on the Database Input screen, but only the top item that is selected is valid.

    • If you want to specify items other than IDs in Update Key on the Database Input screen, you need to select Set this field as the unique record identifier from an external system in Salesforce settings.

    • In the Validation Settings screen, you can specify input restrictions for items, but depending on the settings in Salesforce objects, the specified input constraints may not be valid (eventually to follow the settings in Salesforce objects).

    • For a combined data source, you can only write back to the main data source (DS1).

    • To write back data for the virtual object (such as activity), "ToDo" or "Action" should be used.

Report Output

  1. Functions and screens related to SVF report are available(displayed) when you subscribe to SVF Cloud.

  2. Features and screens related to Excel reports can be used and displayed as standard features. (They are not options.)

  3. Features and screens related to PowerPoint reports can be used and displayed as standard features. (They are not options.)

  4. The formats available for outputting SVF report follows the formats available for outputting in SVF Cloud.

  5. The maximum waiting time (timeout) before the task of distributing reports is executed is 60 minutes.

Client application

  1. The right-click menu and the New button are not available when the screen for manipulating data storage (Data Storage is selected in Item Type) is displayed in MotionBoard Agent.

  2. The application name for mobile devices is "MotionBoard Mobile" for the on-premise version and "MotionBoard Cloud Mobile" for the cloud version. The names are different, however, the features are the same. (Only the registered server URLs ares different.)

Other

  1. Functions related to in-memory OLAP and bridge service are available depending on edition or option.

  2. Federation Service is not available.

  3. Server Folder on the Store in Folder tab on the Detailed Task Settings screen is not be available (not displayed).

  4. You cannot configure the various settings related to RC Service.

  5. The built-in administrator user (admin@local) is not available.

  6. Some file connectors are not available depending on edition or option.

  7. Plug-ins (extension programs) are not available.

  8. Command line tools are not available.

  9. In MotionBoard Cloud, you cannot configure the various settings on the server side described in System management reference (such as changing the memory allocation amount and changing the port).

  10. The maximum number of rows of spreadsheet data that can be output when downloading an Excel file or outputting an Excel report from a spreadsheet item is 100,000 rows (You cannot change the value).

  11. The Datalizer tab in the Link Board Settings screen is not available (not displayed) when creating a link board.
